Biz Ed-Ventures

What is Biz Ed-Ventures?

Biz Ed-Ventures is a one-week business start-up seminar for youth ages 12 and above that allows students to identify their skill areas and interests with potential business opportunities in mind. Once a business idea is identified, the training session provides the student with all the essential steps to follow in the development of a viable business plan. Students learn the basic attributes of customer relations, work ethics, communication, decision-making and organizational skills; pricing, advertising, bookkeeping, break-even analysis, profit and loss, income statements, financing, cost-of-goods-sold, inventory management, retailing, time management and many other business tools. Youth use basic math, reading and writing skills in the development of their business plan in a fun and high-energy setting.

Why it works?

Learning becomes personal when youth generate their business idea and apply math and literacy skills to their own moneymaking ventures. Pardon the expressions but “buy-in” and “taking ownership” are more than just clichés. These are real life business ventures that lead to profitability and a sense of accomplishment. The initial business investment can be as low as a few dollars to as high as a couple of hundred dollars depending on their business venture idea.

Endorsement…..

Biz Ed-Ventures is endorsed by Dr. Jim Holloway, Assistant Secretary for Rural Education as “an attractive next step in our collective efforts to sustain the community revitalization initiative.” Biz Ed-Ventures is considered by many sponsors as an investment in our youth whether or not they become entrepreneurs. The skills learned from this program are life-long. For more information please email us or give us a call.
